Studio Build

We got all of the pieces together on our Audio Control Room...finally!

Here is the equipment inside:

  • Tannoy Precision 8D Monitors
  • Tannoy TS12 Subwoofer
  • MacPro running MOTU Digital Performer
  • New UHF-R System for Senior Pastor w/ DPA 4066 Mic
  • Earthworks SR30 for Ambient Mics
  • EV RE20 Voiceover Mic (with a sweet shock mount)
  • Auralex Acoustical Treatment. (about 80% of the room is covered, including the roof.)
The recording system is ENTIRELY digital.  We are taking a MADI output out of our Studer Vista 5 running the lightpipe line roughly 250M into our MacPro which has a RME MADI Fiber PCI Express Card.  This enables us to send 64 In/64 Out with ONE cable!!!

About the software:
You might be asking why we didn't just build a Pro Tools System...
Well...we eventually plan on building a Pro Tools HD2 System when budget allows. The MADI interface to get our Console talking with Pro Tools is $4000 ALONE!  Granted it's a lot cheaper to purchase the Solid State Interface compared to Digi Gear, it made sense to go this route for now.  The great thing about Digital Performer is that we can exchange files with Pro Tools right now - as well as exchange XML files with Final Cut Pro.

I'll be posting photos shortly, stay tuned!
