They have an awesome system in place to review all content on Saturday Evening before the service starts to be SURE nothing is missed. For not running audio in long time, I stepped in and pulled off the service almost flawless. This goes to show how much review really helps.
One element was not reviewed causing an error after the doors opened. I made a suggestion to one of the leaders to look into a better control unit for the lighting to fix the issue on the fly better. He replied and said that the gear is fine and that if things were reviewed, there would be no issue at all. I agreed with him 100%. At first I took the answer offensively, because I have been in places that insist on buying "Miracle Gear" instead of fixing the actual internal issues they are facing.
It goes to show that a $225,000 audio board, or $25,000 Lighting Console can only take you so far until someone changes their mind at the last minute.
God, thank you for aggressive leaders that have a vision for excellence.
